Standard EN 13998 is applicable to aprons, trousers and protective vests for use with hand knives and other garments that provide similar protection to parts of the body in the event of an accident. Specifies requirements for design, penetration resistance, cut resistance, size, ergonomic characteristics, harmlessness, water permeability, cleaning and disinfection, marking and information to be provided by the manufacturer for users of aprons, trousers and protective vests. It also describes the classification of protection levels and the appropriate test methods.
