The EN ISO 17249 standard specifies the requirements and tests for safety footwear with resistance to chainsaw cutting. Footwear with cut protection from handheld chainsaw is fitted with special cut-proof fabric in the front part.
Three protection levels are set forth, establishing different levels of cut resistance based on chain speed:
Class 1 20 metres/second
Class 2 24 metres/second
Class 3 28 metres/second
This footwear must be used with specific protective clothing, such as cut-proof gloves, jackets, trousers, bib trousers or suits.
