The EN 16473 standard specifies the minimum requirements for technical rescue helmets, intended to protect the upper head mainly against the effects of mechanical hazards such as impact and penetration, flame, electrical and chemical hazards. These devices, used by firefighters, have different requirements respect to those used for wildland fire fighting regulated by EN 16471. These helmets protect against electrical, mechanical and chemical hazards, in addition to guaranteeing thermal protection. Risks normally present in case of technical rescues.
